THE EXPERIENCE

Starting from the shores of the Beagle Channel, the trail will lead us to the very summit of Monte Susana on the Andes Mountains. From here, we’ll enjoy the most incredible and breathtaking views of Ushuaia, the Beagle Channel and the surrounding mountain range, spanning both the Argentinian and Chilean sides.

As soon as we begin the hike, we’ll enter the native forest, where we will encounter various species of plants that characterize this environment: tall deciduous beech, winter’s bark, calafate, orchids, and more. Once in the forest, we will start the ascent to the summit.

After an hour of ascending, we’ll reach the first viewpoint. As we approach the high mountain environment, we’ll notice the gradual transformation of the trees, becoming stunted in their appearance. Here, we’ll take a break and appreciate the first views from this mountain.

The trail to the summit extends beyond the limit of the vegetation. In this final, more challenging stretch of the hike, you’ll encounter some alpine plants and rocks covered with mosses and lichens. This effort is definitely worth it; from the summit, a magnificent view awaits us. We can see various mountain ranges that are part of the Andes; the great Beagle Channel with its islands and bays, and the city of Ushuaia nestled along the coast at the base of the Montes Martial.

After admiring the incredible views and enjoying our lunch, we began our descent, filled with excitement at having reached the summit and spent a day fully immersed in nature.
