THE EXPERIENCE

Departing from the Port of Ushuaia aboard a small vessel (yacht-style), we begin by sailing across the wide Ushuaia Bay, with stunning views of the harbor and city from the sea. Once we cross the bay, we enter the heart of the Beagle Channel, where two nearby archipelagos are home to a rich variety of wildlife. One of our first stops is Bird Island, home to cormorants — seabirds very similar in appearance and behavior to penguins — which nest on the channel’s rocky islets. We then continue east to Sea Lion Island, where we’ll observe a colony of South American sea lions that inhabit the Beagle year-round. These islands are also home to a wide range of seabirds such as albatrosses, petrels, ducks, oystercatchers, and gulls.

With some luck, we may even spot marine mammals passing through, such as whales, seals, porpoises, and more. After immersing ourselves in the wild beauty of the channel, we reach the emblem of local navigation and a symbol of Ushuaia: the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. There, we pause to enjoy the snowy landscape, take photos, and truly feel what it means to be at the End of the World. Before returning, and if weather conditions allow, we disembark on Bridges Island — the largest of the archipelago — for a short interpretive walk and a gentle climb to a 360° panoramic viewpoint in the middle of the channel. We end the journey sailing back to Ushuaia, sharing stories and warming up with a hot drink after this unforgettable Fuegian experience.

Disembarkation may be canceled if weather conditions are not favorable for the walk.
