THE EXPERIENCE

We leave the hotel in search of adventure. In the first 5 km of the route, we explore peat bogs, native forests, and cross the Tierra Mayor Valley and the Esmeralda River Valley. This first stage of our trek culminates at the magnificent Laguna Esmeralda, where we take a few minutes to admire the view and recharge for the more demanding part of the circuit.

After circling and leaving Laguna Esmeralda behind, we cross the last section of forest to begin the ascent, slowly entering the high mountain environment. Our next goal is to reach the Balconies of Ojo del Albino, from where we have breathtaking views of Laguna Esmeralda and the entire path we’ve traveled.

Finally, we climb the last wall that separates us from the imposing Ojo del Albino Glacier, where we are richly rewarded after such a challenging hike. We take some time to rest, eat our box lunch with hot drinks, and then begin our return.
