THE EXPERIENCE
Embark on an adventure through one of Ushuaia’s most challenging trails to reach the bottom of Vinciguerra Glacier and visit its incredible ice caves. During the first 2 km, we’ll trek through Andorra Valley and visit one of the most beautiful peat bogs of the world. This wetland, along with the glacier river that runs through it, has a significant international importance as a fresh water reserve known as Ramsar Site.
After hiking through the valley, we’ll enter a native forest of Tierra del Fuego where we’ll begin the first ascent into the mountain while learning about the native flora and fauna. Once we complete the first slope, “we’ll take a break by the riverbank. From this point, we can already observe part of the stunning glacier.
At this moment, we´ll start the most difficult and demanding part of the hike leading us to Los Tempanos Lagoon. Upon arrival, we’ll capture the moment with photos and admire the magnificent glacial lagoon. Across from us, we can observe the enormous ice rock.
From here, we’ll go on a twenty-minutes hike along the lagoon until we reach the base of the glacier. We’ll be able to experience the ice up close, observe its crevices, listen to the internal flows of water and explore the caves formed within.v
In this area, as we relax next to the glacier and admire its vastness, we’ll enjoy our lunch. After this magical moment, we will start our return journey back to the city descending the mountain.
