THE EXPERIENCE
Experience a truly unique winter adventure in Ushuaia! We invite you to discover one of Tierra del Fuego’s most breathtaking natural treasures: the impressive Vinciguerra Glacier and its fascinating ice caves — a journey designed for true nature and adventure lovers.
The hike begins with the first 2 km crossing the snow-covered Andorra Valley, where we’ll admire the beauty of a frozen peat bog, considered one of the most striking in the world. This wetland, along with the meltwater river that runs through it, forms an internationally important freshwater reserve.
After crossing the valley, we enter Tierra del Fuego’s native forest, where the trail begins to climb. As we ascend, we discover the local flora and fauna adapted to harsh winter conditions. Emerging from the forest, we reach the tree line and pause beside a frozen river to recover and enjoy the first views of the glacier.
From here, we face the final and most demanding stretch — a snowy climb up to the frozen Laguna de los Témpanos. We stop to take photos and marvel at the immense glacier towering on the opposite shore.
The final section of the hike brings us to the base of the Vinciguerra Glacier, where we can feel the ice beneath our feet, admire deep crevasses, and listen to the sound of hidden meltwater rivers flowing inside the ice. In winter, the glacier’s ice caves offer an even more extraordinary sight, with crystal formations and unique shades of blue and white.
In this magical setting, we take time to enjoy a comforting box lunch beside the glacier before beginning our descent, leaving behind a dreamlike landscape that will remain etched in our memory forever.
